A French Bulldog that carries the “Fluffy Dominant” gene, also known as Furnishings, is a visually fluffy dog. If the dog only carries the “F” gene then this dog is categorized as a Hypoallergenic French Bulldog. A Hypoallergenic French Bulldog only has the “F” gene, no L-gene. A Fluffy French Bulldog with two L-genes, a combination of l1 or l4 is not a hypoallergenic bulldog.

These dogs have a fur coat that produces more dander and sheds more often . The beauty of a fluffy dominant carrier dog is that it can produce visual fluffy dogs in one generation. This gene is dominant. Therefore, it only requires one copy to pass its trait. A good example of how to explain this easier, is when breeders are producing merle colored dogs. Only one parent needs to be visually merle to produce merle puppies. Merle and Fluffy Dominant are genes that work the same way, dominant! Now, if the dog has two F-genes (F/F), this dog will be able to pass one F-gene to every offspring, which will make every offspring visually fluffy guaranteed.

An amazing example of the impact of this F-gene is the first “Fluffy Dominant” and “Hypoallergenic French Bulldog” named Top Dollar produced by world renowned breeder, Don Chino. Top Dollar the Hypoallergenic French Bulldog carries Fluffy Dominant and can produce fluffy frenchies in one generation. To add, if he is bred to a non-fluffy carrier female, the offspring that receives the fluffy dominant gene will be visually fluffy and hypoallergenic! This breakthrough has been recognized by many canine dna specialist and canine registries. This advancement in science will move the breed forward and benefit French Bulldog enthusiasts who suffer from allergens.
